2019 Mitchell Harris Chardonnay

Wightwick Vineyard

Cool climate Chardonnay.

Our third Chardonnay release from the Wightwick vineyard, situated 500 meters above sea level just to the North of Ballarat. This is an elegant and refined style, with white nectarine and lemon curd notes. Soft and creamy on the palate, with a long, slightly chalky phenolic grip, and tangy acid tail. There is subtle toast and spice notes from maturation in French oak hogsheads (30% new).                                                           John Harris - Winemaker.

Whole bunch pressed and wild yeast fermented in French Oak

A refined and elegant style reflective of our very cool Ballarat vineyard site.

On the 2018 vintage: Hand-picked, wild ferment, matured on yeast in French oak hogsheads. A super, cold climate expression of chardonnay that offers a different face of the grape to the usual Aussie sunniness. At just 12.5% alcohol it walks the line of green apples, nettles, pear skin, citrus. There's a wildness, too, a leesy creamy idiosyncrasy. Don't over-chill, let it open. 93 Points
